Dignified and luxurious. The 1994 Toyota Crown Majesta
Whenever you see a black Toyota Crown Majesta in Japan, you can assume it’s a corporate limousine for a VIP executive. Every black Crown Majesta I’ve seen has been in sparkling condition with an impeccably groomed driver either chauffeuring an executive or buffing the finish to perfection before picking the executive up.
In the late 1980s, I was deeply impressed by a ride in the Majesta’s predecessor, the Crown Royal Saloon. Longer and wider than other Toyota Crowns, it was remarkably quiet, refined and comfortable. In 1991, this model evolved into the even more impressive Crown Majesta, which makes any driver or passenger feel like a million bucks.
The luxurious Crown Majesta is Toyota’s answer to makers like Mercedes Benz. It shares flagship status with Toyota’s other full-size luxury sedan, the Toyota Century, which is more conservative and can only be purchased new by invitation from Toyota.
The 1994 Toyota Crown Majesta features a 4.0-liter V8 engine (260 hp) that was tuned to satisfy the most fastidious Japanese executive. It smoothly delivers powerful acceleration to all four wheels by way of Toyota’s i-Four 4WD vehicle control system and a 4-speed automatic transmission with sport mode. Also available is a 3.0-liter inline six variant with rear wheel drive.
The interior is spacious with lush carpeting and upholstery, comfortable electrically adjustable heated seats, and plenty of legroom for up to five people. Notable luxuries include wooden panels on the center console and doors, a head-up display (HUD) with easy controls, a navigation system supported by Toyota’s subscription service and a digital instrument panel.
Of course, the ride is amazingly smooth and the road manners are exquisite. Some V8 variants are equipped with optional 4-wheel steering and the transmission can be adjusted for sportier performance with a press of the ECT power button.
We highly recommend this model for demanding Americans seeking a full-size Japanese luxury sedan rivaling the best from Germany. You’ll enjoy unparalleled Toyota reliability, low maintenance and repair fees, plus the added pleasure of JDM exclusivity.
Canadians can also import this exceptional model or any Crown Majesta at least 15 years old. The 2004 model, for example, offers a number of advantages including a larger 4.3-liter V8 engine producing 280 hp, a 6-speed automatic transmission with sequential shiftmatic, lower emissions and Toyota’s first VDIM (Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management) for impressive stability and enhanced safety. Since the Crown Majesta wasn’t released outside of Japan until 2006, this model is also one of the last exclusively JDM models.
Wherever you live in the world, Japan Car Direct can help you legally import a beautiful used Toyota Crown Majesta in outstanding condition from Japan.
