Used 2001 Jaguar XJR from Japan
Sold and Exported
Jaguar’s flagship saloon
Sleek and powerful with classic British flair, the XJ luxury saloon has been Jaguar’s flagship model since 1970. Massive investment from Ford in the mid 1990s led to higher levels of quality, reliability and performance rivaling the most luxurious German and Japanese competition.
Beautiful and highly competitive
Ford-induced improvements first became apparent in 1997 with Jaguar’s introduction of the XJ series known as the X308 (1997-2003). Not only did this series match or surpass the competition in terms of power, ride quality, handling and luxury, but it received the prestigious L’Automobile piu Bella del Mondo (Most Beautiful Car in The World) award in Milan.
Choose the XJR for high performance
The standout model in the series is the high-performance XJR with supercharged 4.0-liter V8 engine (AJ-V8) that hits 60 mph (97 km/h) from a standstill in 5 seconds flat! Amazingly quick for a large luxury vehicle, it was one of the fastest cars of any genre in its day. 370 bhp (276 kW; 375 PS) of horsepower and 387 lb⋅ft (525 N⋅m) of torque supply intoxicating power that presses you against the seat. Yet, legendary Jaguar engine refinement keeps the engine running smoothly and quietly at all speeds.
The engine is mated with a Mercedes-Benz 5G-Tronic five-speed automatic transmission that’s more heavy duty than the transmissions on other XJ models, none of which offer manual transmissions. Handling is solid and ride quality is good, thanks to a sports-tuned suspension with independent rear setup and disc brakes.
Imported from Japan
This gorgeous silver 2001 XJR with rounded four-headlamp hood and cast alloy wheels was obtained by Japan Car Direct in Japan, exported to Poland and presented as a gift to the purchaser’s father on Christmas day! You can tell it’s an XJR by the black window trim, wider wheels and tires, more refined radiator grille, rear XJR badge — and of course a supercharged 4.0-liter V8 under the hood. There are 110,080 kilometers on the odometer, but this vehicle was well cared for and XJRs tend to last and last, so the father in Poland should enjoy many years of long, luxurious trips.
The gray all-leather interior is roomy, elegant and superbly crafted with luxurious chrome and walnut touches as expected from a British luxury car. Its ample features include comfortable front seats bolstered on the sides for solid support, automatic climate control, a central entertainment system, and automatic headlight levelling and illumination. Plenty of space is available for groceries and luggage both here and in the cavernous trunk, which provides a high opening lid for easy access.
Outstanding value
Used Jaguar XJ and XJR models from the X308 series are currently available at excellent prices that make them considerably less expensive than Maserati Quattroportes in similar condition, and a better deal than many used BMW 7-series, Mercedes S-class and Audi A8 models from the same era. Jaguars also offer more luxurious trim.
