						Mathew and the fine folks of JCD were pros and I couldn't be happier with my Honda Acty Street. Shipping was easy to follow, they laid out exactly how to go about picking up my van from customs and getting it home was a breeze. Been driving it for a few months now and still purring away. It's scary buying a vehicle sight unseen but they are willing to double check everything before you even put your bid in. The right hand drive is rad and my little baby Racoon gets quite a bit of attention. The only thing to make sure of is check your state laws. Some states are trying to pull Kei trucks and vans off the road. But that is no bearing on JCD. Everything on their end was silky smooth. Would love to buy another couple and have a whole fleet! Even came with original manuals and some artwork from the previous owner's children! Can't put into words how happy I am! JCD rules!

						Bought a Toyota Hiace with the help of Yoshiro. He was fantastic! I will never buy another vehicle from Japan without using this company. I would encourage anyone to use them. There were several vans I inquired about and Yoshiro said there was too much rust and wasn’t good vehicle. He actually looks out for his customers and isn’t looking for a quick sale.

						I have already purchased 3 cars from this company and have a 4th on the way. They are very nice, extremely helpful, and work around your budget. I worked with Yoshi. He is very nice and made me a lot more comfortable with the wire transfers (after purchasing the vehicle), because let’s be honest, it is nerve racking to send money to a foreign country and have to wait several weeks for your vehicle to arrive. However, everything has gone smoothly, and they make it very easy to import the car of your dreams. I will continue to go with Japan Car Direct for all my japan car needs :D

						Yesterday I took delivery of my 1995 Subaru Sambar (Kei or "Mini Truck" I could not be happier with the service provided by Japan Car Direct and with the vehicle itself. Mathew was unfailingly kind, patient, and helpful through the process. He helped me to understand more about Sambars specifically and Kei trucks in general, as well as everything from bidding through shipping and customs clearance (though they do not provide that service per se). I cannot tell you how many questions he promptly answered about the process and about specific vehicles I considered purchasing. I highly recommend that anyone who wants to import a car from Japan work with Japan Car Direct.

						We had been looking for a Toyota AE86 for many years, and in late 2022, decided to take the plunge and purchase from Japan a fabulous red over black example. After scoping out a number of agents/importers based in Japan, we settled on Japan Car Direct, and we're very happy that we did! We quickly found that communications with Matt and the Japan Car Direct team were always prompt, insightful and respectful, giving us a feeling of trust in the company. At our request Matt organised a mechanical and general inspection of the car, which was located a few hours north-east of Tokyo. Whilst the mechanic was looking at the car, we were able to do a video call through Matt so we could see the AE86 for ourselves and ask questions of the selling agent live - all beautifully translated by Matt. This gave us a digital first-hand viewing of the car, and was key to us making our final decision to purchase. The subsequent transaction for the purchase itself was a smooth and stress-free operation as we were guided through the process by Japan Car Direct. The entire process, from first communication, to the inspection, the transaction, the shipping process, and to when the car arrived - was all incredibly smooth and trouble-free. As a result of all this good service, we now have a wonderful JDM Toyota AE86 here in Australia. We’d highly recommend Japan Car Direct to anyone seriously thinking about finding and importing a car from Japan. Thanks Japan Car Direct!

						This is as good as no-sight car buying can get and I 100% recommend using these guys. Take your time, work with them, and you'll get exactly what you want. I was in the market for a Skyline and told Yoshiro what I was looking for ('98 or older, RWD, no rust, no accidents). He asked a few questions to gauge how much I cared about different aspects. I sent them the deposit and got started. From there I used their auction database to find cars I was interested in and I spent about a month looking at different auctions. Many times Yoshiro would discover something about the car I wouldn't have caught that made it a no-go, and his honesty probably saved me from a few lemons. Eventually this R34 closed without meeting reserve, and Yoshiro guided me through the negotiations process (which I was completely unfamiliar with). You only need 1 bank transfer to pay the rest of the fees which simplifies things. After that was done he got the car moved to the shipping yard. This was during peak covid, so of course there were tons of delays getting it onto a ship. Yoshiro provided regular updates, and once it was loaded he immediately sent me all the relevant documents and helped me find a broker to transport it from the port to my house. I'm extremely happy with the car and am super grateful that I had the help I did from the JCD guys to get it. It was honestly way simpler and easier than I thought it was going to be, and I almost prefer it to buying from dealerships!

						I purchased / imported some cars from Japan to USA with others before using JCD, so I have a little experience ...Although I am just doing this for fun I have imported 7 cars now. The 3 I bought before going with JCD all had hidden problems. Of course, buying auction cars is always "buyer beware". But with JCD Yoshi always pointed out small details and gave some suggestions before the bidding. He didn't say "no, don't do it" but gave a hint ... ok a few times he definitely said "DON'T" ... but that's what I want and need from someone facilitating this kind of purchase! Communication has always been A+ from Yoshi and JCD. They are on the ball... The fees are reasonable, and while I bet you can get a car to a US port for a few dollars less, I am not sure why you would want to. There are A LOT of misrepresented cars in the Japan auction system. It's thorough in some ways, but you have to know the risks and do what you can to mitigate them. JCD should really be part of that plan, part of understanding what you are going to get before you get it. A couple hundred bucks for inspections or other JCD services could prevent thousands later. I know because I learned the hard way by using others before coming to my senses and using JCD.

						I'd been looking to buy an RF series Honda Stepwagon to convert into a mini camper for a while but the UK prices always seemed too high. I had joined a few JDM import sites to get an idea of auction prices and costs (including Japan Car Direct) but just couldn't bring myself to take the next step, it seemed such a risk ! Finally after reading so many good reviews for JCD (and Mathew in particular) I took the plunge and contacted Mathew. After he answered my many questions regarding costs, fees etc I felt confident enough to pay the deposit and start hunting the Japanese auctions for my Steppy. My budget for the Steppy was pretty low (pathetic even !) but I felt Mat still put the same effort into replying to my questions and queries as he would have done if my budget had been into the tens of thousands. The result was I now have a very tidy Stepwagon with lower mileage than any vehicle I've ever owned, I've paid far less for it then I would have done buying in the UK and I've got a bigger budget now for the camper conversion. I wouldn't hesitate to buy through them again, and hope to do so soon.

						Wouldn't recommend anyone else! I have been dealing with Taylor for over a month now and have imported multiple cars from Toyota aristo's, laurels and Spirit R RX7s. 						I used Japancardirect.com and Mathew to search for, buy, and import a mini truck, Suzuki Carry, to Florida from Japan. They made the process easy and seamless and Mathew answered every question I had.....and there were a bunch. They assisted in checking out the vehicle with a mechanic, sending me pictures, sending me a report on the vehicle, bidding, putting new tires on once I purchased, shipping and mailing all needed paperwork. Mathew took me through the selection process, helped steer me away from potentially bad deals, and communicated regularly once I had selected my vehicle. He took me through the export process, and recommended Armin at EasyISF to help with the import process. I was able to track my van across the ocean, and Armin helped me work through customs clearance up through the day I picked up my tiny van. Sometimes you have to trust people and this time I picked the correct people to trust; both with my funds being wired to Japan and with trusting that Mathew and his crew had my best interests in mind. 						I can't praise Japan Car Direct enough especially the work from Mike Nguyen in helping me find and buy the van I finally chose. They make the process very straightforward and Mike was always available with video translations of auction sheets and with advice on the purchase process and pricing. You never feel like you cannot discuss the process and are never pushed into choices you don't want to make. Finally, with the shipping to the UK, Mike helped find transportation that was significantly faster than the expected times given by others.

						After seeing quite a few Kei Trucks on the road, I was intrigued. Seeing the local retail prices gave me sticker shock, so I immediately thought there has to be a better way. Sure enough, that way is Japan Car Direct. Yoshi and team are knowledgeable, professional and responsive. They do what they say they are going to do before, during and after the transaction, they are in it for the long haul. The result of reviewing the auction listings and acquiring/importing yourself (with help from JCD) is substantial savings and the satisfaction of paying a fair price. It's also fun if you enjoy searching for and identifying great automotive values. Would not hesitate to recommend their services to others and I will be back for more vehicles in the near future.

						I was introduced to Japan Car Direct (JCD) through a friend that imported his own Kei truck. Prior to me reaching out to JCD, I researched many other online buyers of JDM cars for many years and came away very disappointed for various reasons: their buyer's fee or fees were ridiculously high; the price of their cars were ridiculously high; they seemed ambivalent about my needs; their English was not strong; the selection of their cars were very limited and/or their stock was full of cars that had been there for months, if not years. Most importantly, I had no confidence they were acting on my behalf. JCD was completely different. Since July of 2016, I have purchased 8 vehicles from JCD. They guided me and advised me as to which cars were solid, roadworthy, and mechanically sound. 						I first stumbled upon Japan Car Direct LLC through their Facebook page and on their website. I plan on writing a full review once my car arrives, but at the current moment I wish I could give them more than a 5/5. First, their website is extremely professional and has all of the information that you could ask for. The coolest part about the entire process is getting access to the auction house by registering with them. You can then see (and get translations) for the cars of your choice! Mathew and Scott providing AMAZING customer service. This being my first time, they answered more than 50 e-mails of my questions, and were always very professional. They did not pressure me to purchase a car either, rather, I gave them my specifications and they worked with me to find the vehicle of my choice. I believe their service charge is more than fair considering they do the bulk of the work for you. No matter what time of day, it seemed like Mat and Scott were there to help! In addition to cars, they can help you find parts, which I will need some for my car! While we did run into some minor issues (like my delaying of payment since they are international, and some [dealer - not Japan Car Direct] translation issues with the dealer we bought the car from), Mat and Scott quickly worked to resolve them. Overall, they are great guys, and I will purchase again from them again. If only they could invent a hoverboard to make the car arrive faster :)

						I worked with JapanCarDirect to import a 4WD van. It took three months, lots of legwork, a good auction score, and plenty of fees to pay, but I now have a fully legal and awesome van that is in great shape minus a few issues that are to be expected of a 25-year old van. It's super fun to drive, super unique, and I feel like I'm part of the community. I can pass VW vans and chuckle as they look at me driving RHD several inches above their vehicle. However, as my favorite youtuber subject matter expert on these kinds of vans, you have to be somewhat of an auto enthusiast to really enjoy these cars. You can find gold among the lower value vehicles. There's an element of risk buying from auction, but I got all vehicles I was really interested in inspected to give me more confidence completing the contraction, granting that I've never owned two vehicles before. Plus, I knew exactly what I wanted, so I was able to bid with confidence. Having two cars as driving options is super handy!

						Without the help I got from Mason @ Japan Car Direct, I couldn't have been able to easily import my first JDM to Canada. He was very quick to respond to my emails and was patiently available day in and day out. Mason provided ongoing support to help me select the car I wanted and translated the Japanese description from the auction website. He used to record videos to explain all the available info about the cars I selected and helped me exclude the cars with features I didn't want. Mason also offered his expert advice about the maximum bidding amount but worked hard to get the car with the lowest price possible. He was amazingly dedicated to make sure I got what I wanted and patiently answered all my questions. He then helped me get extra inspections after winning the auction. I had no concern transferring money to buy and bid for the car because I know for sure that Mason and his friends at JCD are trust worthy. 						Japan Car Direct is so amazing! About 6 months ago I wanted a Kei truck. I looked at purchasing them locally, but they were just too expensive. So, I looked at importing one through a company like JCD to save some money and to look for what I wanted exactly. While I was initially skeptical, after interacting with agents getting access to the auction site, I was so confident in the ability to import the car of my dreams. After months of bothering my agent, Taylor, with constant bids and random questions, I finally won an auction and purchased my truck. While I thought once I had paid the final bill to them that their services were over, I was dead wrong: Taylor was there to support me through the ENTIRE process. JCD worked so hard to make sure my truck was just how I wanted it, delivered as fast as possible, and affordable. While it was scary at first, it was just so easy! I am just now getting my truck registered and road-legal. On port day, when I was at the Customs office waiting to get my paperwork stamped, I saw others in front of me find out they didn't have the right paperwork or didn't file things correctly and could never register their car and I was so glad, I had all my documentation from JCD and it was all done right. 						This was my first time ever buying a car, let alone one from overseas. I was very nervous at first, but the guys at Japan Car Direct are excellent! In particular I dealt with Yoshiro and he provided amazing service and helped me from step 1 all the way until I received the vehicle. If you're unsure about absolutely anything, you can ask them and they'll be more than happy to help you. Yoshiro helped me find an excellent little Audi TT in great condition that I couldn't be more happy about owning! I never would've been able to find a deal like this in my home country. The process is very simple(Refer to their site for a lot more in-depth details on how the process works and a ton of other information): 1. Find a car you like on the auction search engine (can access by simply making an account on their website) 2. Send the auction listing to them and they'll translate the sheet into English for you 3. This step is not mandatory, but you can get an inspection prior to bidding for a insanely good price, I highly recommend. 4. If you still want to bid, let them know your maximum bid. 5. If you win the bid, then just sit back whilst they handle ALL of the next steps for you, they really make it easy! 6. Depending on your country, your import process will be different to clear customs, but Yoshiro even set that entire process up for me! (Note: You're responsible for passing any inspections in order to get insurance in your country, but for me the process was still very simple) It's really as simple as that. All I had to do in the entire process was pick a car I like, and pay for it. You are in good hands with the guys at this company. They'll make sure you get a good car and only one that you'll be happy with. Truly a breath of fresh air when you find that one company that very clearly works for you as the customer to find the absolute best deal for you. I'm definitely going to be looking at buying another vehicle through these guys in the future!

						I purchased a JDM 2008 Toyota Prius through Japan Car Direct last year. The export agent, Mason, was easy to work with and made the process predictable and straight forward, so there were no surprises or hidden costs with the car itself and with logistics. The logistics supplier that Mason referred to in Vancouver to import the car into Canada was also very helpful and made the process stress free. Mason went above and beyond just facilitating the transaction and sourced new tires, rims, and accessories for the car that the car needed or that didn't come with the car. This was a big help as these parts and accessories for a 2008 Prius were either unavailable in Canada or would have cost an arm and a leg to purchase through a dealership. I was amazed at how good condition the car was in when it arrived. I picked it up in Vancouver and, right off the boat, drove it over 4000km straight to Ontario to get it home without any mechanical issues along the way.

						I used Japan Car Direct to import my R34 Nissan Skyline, I found Scott and his team extremly helpful though out the entire process from the get go... I had always wanted to own an R34 GTR it had been a dream car for me to own ever since I at school. I had always toyed with the idea of Importing a vehicle myself but was always dubious about the process... many companies didn't really want to help or we plain how the process works which wasn't very comforting... until i made contact with Scott @ JCD... He was happy to answer all my questions and querys with swift honest answers.. . And made the whole process extremly hassle free and no put my mind at rest of any worries I had. I can not recommend Scott and his team enough.. they helped me source, purchase and ship my dream car to the UK and I was extremly please with the car I purchased it was far better than I could have expected and was 'as described' I would 100% used JCD again and have already passed my information on to a number of people with regards to the whole process.. so once again Thank you Scott and the JCD I expect to be using your good selves aging in the future =)

It's quite amazing the amount of detail is on the auction sheet about the condition of the car, so it was very easy to know what condition the cars are in. 						Ever since my first trip to Japan in 2016, I have wanted a kei vehicle. I was finally in a position to get one this year, but I didn't know where to start. After doing a lot of research and talking to a few folks who had done it before, I decided to use Japan Car Direct. The primary reason I chose JCD was that I kept hearing them described as "helpful" and "trustworthy". I think these two qualities are important, but particularly for a first time importer like myself. After all, I was going to be sending thousands of dollars halfway across the world for a vehicle I'd never seen, so I wanted someone I could trust and who would help me through the process. Yoshiro absolutely delivered on both counts for Japan Car Direct. From the first e-mail he was very responsive, took time to answer all my questions, and helped guide me to the right truck. The JCD team is great and I can't recommend them enough. I'm sure I will be doing business with them again when I'm ready for my next Japanese car! As for the vehicle, I snagged a very clean 1994 Acty SDX that showed up in even better condition than I expected. I just picked it up from the port the other day, I'll update with photos once I get it cleaned up!

						Since a kid the FD RX7 has always been a dream car but i didn't pursue it till i graduated high school but the prices just for the shell over here in california was over 15k!! I kept looking around until I decided i would just import one. I found JCD while looking for the top 5 importers you could trust and they stood out more than all the other ones, and for a couple months of more research on their page until I ultimately decided I would go through them. Although this was my first time getting a car from Japan and having an endless amount questions spanning a couple hundred emails until it would freeze up and i had to make a new email thread .. Mathew always answered every question and helped me though every step. I didn't have all the funds in the beginning but they were very patient with it until i was fully ready, then after a month of having Matt give his thought on some of the FDs i was looking at we finally won the auction for a 94 Efini type R Fd3s. As we picked it up from Long Beach till the drive home I couldn't believe that it was here and soo much better just looking at the picture but i defiantly would recommend JCD to anyone looking to import their dream car too and and want to thank matt and the whole team with getting me my RX7.

						Working with JCD, specifically Yoshiro, has been a thoroughly pleasant experience from start to finish. They were able to answer all my myriad of ever expanding questions regarding not only the purchase process but intermediate shipping, receiving. Once I had decided on the vehicle itself they were quite helpful with specific details pertaining to the particular model I was after, spotting problems and subtle differences in options which I likely would have overlooked being new to the process and vehicles. The one hang-up with shipping which occurred was handled quickly, professionally and fairly leaving me feeling very confident in using this company again for my next importation. All told putting my trust and money in someone half way around the world and then hoping I would actually receive what was agreed upon was daunting to say the least. JCD made the entire process as transparent as possible and were responsive and attentive to questions and changes in schedule general plans, I would and have recommended them to friends for importation needs.
