						Japan Car Direct is so amazing! About 6 months ago I wanted a Kei truck. I looked at purchasing them locally, but they were just too expensive. So, I looked at importing one through a company like JCD to save some money and to look for what I wanted exactly. While I was initially skeptical, after interacting with agents getting access to the auction site, I was so confident in the ability to import the car of my dreams. After months of bothering my agent, Taylor, with constant bids and random questions, I finally won an auction and purchased my truck. While I thought once I had paid the final bill to them that their services were over, I was dead wrong: Taylor was there to support me through the ENTIRE process. JCD worked so hard to make sure my truck was just how I wanted it, delivered as fast as possible, and affordable. While it was scary at first, it was just so easy! I am just now getting my truck registered and road-legal. My fulfillment in my new Kei truck and with JCD's services was so immense that I couldn't help convincing friends and family to make the same choice that I did: importing my JDM dream car through Japan Car Direct. 						I can't praise Japan Car Direct enough especially the work from Mike Nguyen in helping me find and buy the van I finally chose. They make the process very straightforward and Mike was always available with video translations of auction sheets and with advice on the purchase process and pricing. You never feel like you cannot discuss the process and are never pushed into choices you don't want to make. Finally, with the shipping to the UK, Mike helped find transportation that was significantly faster than the expected times given by others.

						Worked with Matthew, Taylor and Scott to find a particular Daihatsu Hijet to import into Australia. Not only did I find the right vehicle using thier platform, they then helped with procuring upgraded wheels off the Yahoo Japan auction site, sourced some additional spare parts not readily available in Australia and organized for a preshipment service. Everything went smoothly and without a hitch. I would highly recommend anyone thinking of importing a vehicle from Japan should consider the service that they offer it is Blue Ribbon.

						I was daunted by the prospect of purchasing a vehicle overseas. Mathew was right there to offer direction and assurance along the way. He was quick to respond and most importantly, his word was good. Everything came to pass as he advised. The only point that went differently from his anticipation was the duty tax, which inherently has room for interpretation and may depend on the port of delivery. Would I go to Mathew and JCD again? Absolutely! With his help I obtained a suzuki carry with 8k miles, 4wd hi/lo w/ diff lock, in excellent condition, for a total of 5k from auction to driveway--tremendous value in my estimation. Thanks Mathew, the little truck is a fine addition to the farm. My kids, and my wife, love to drive it:)

						I have never dealt with a better company. These guys are outstanding and really know the business of exporting vehicles. I imported a car to Ireland and it was a joyous experience with JCD. Mike was so patient and responsive to every query and did a super job. Despite me changing my mind a few times and requesting many translations, he never complained. Mathew fought my corner right at the end of the process to make sure everything was right and his knowledge of the Irish system was really impressive given the geographical distances. 						Japan Car Direct review TLDR: These guys are great to work with and 100% trustworthy. If you are going to import a vehicle, you aren’t going to find better people to manage the process. Importing a car is a gearhead rite of passage into the upper echelon of status and street cred. Spoken of in hushed tones in closely gathered circles almost always in terms of “someday.” It always seemed like dating a move star to me; I knew it was technically a thing. But the in-roads to achieve it were shrouded in darkness and mystery. Besides, even if you managed to sneak into the smoky back room where the action happened, what then? What you need is a Obi-Wan. A wise guide with the patina of years and experience under their belt - funky robe and weird smells optional. Enter Japan Car Direct. I was admittedly nervous. I had spent days reading reviews and references. I contacted several companies in speed-dating fashion hoping to find someone to put my nervous mind at ease. With what I am sure was an annoying number of emails, it seemed clear to me Japan Car Direct was the smartest route. Their reputation seemed solid and they handled my naive, kid-with-an-inhaler-and-too-much-emotional-investment-in-an-obscure-SiFi-storyline obsessive questions with grace and patience. They walked me through the process. Broke down the completely reasonable charges into terms even I could manage, and took the time to expediently respond to my flurry of electronic “But, what about”s. When things got serious, they treated me like more of a friend they were doing a solid than a client. I would message them daily about cars I found on the auction listing I thought would scratch my strange itch. They always responded quickly with honest opinions and information. I had sent my deposit. They had my money. It would have been in their financial interest to get me out of the virtual door with the first car I was panting about and move on to the next client. But, they didn’t do that at all. They actually talked me out of 4-5 vehicles before we found one that fit the bill and they felt was a good option. Then, for less than I’ve spent on a single Starbucks run, then had someone go and put hands on the vehicle. Check it out, start it, fiddle with things and make sure it was a good bet. I received a optimistic, but reserved assessment. Which I jumped on like a high schooler on a prom date. I wired money. I screwed it up (research what is actual takes to send significant amounts of money overseas before you try, btw. It isn’t hard, but I really wish I thought of that part before. It was a bit of a mad dash because I was a newbie and totally clueless.) They were very understanding about the whole thing. They made arrangements, got the car to and on the boat. Managed strange and exotic paperwork that I had no clue existed. It all felt very Bourgeois. Like I had people in other countries managing my affairs. The vehicle magically arrived and it was so much better than I expected. Their standards exceeded mine. Honestly, after purchasing and having a vehicle imported with Japan Car Direct, I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. It is much easier than I expected and less expensive than I assumed. They are fantastic to work with and the entire experience was great.

						After deciding to import a vehicle myself from Japan to the US, Japan car direct was one of the first names to come up. Of course this being the first time that I have ever done anything like this I had countless questions about the process and how it all works. 						Imagine you want to buy a car from Japan. You aren't there, you have no contacts there, you don't know the system. What can you do? I know the answer to this one! Do business with Japan Car Direct. I was that newbie, I had so many question - so many concerns. Mike Nguyen was kind enough to respond to everyone of them with patience and kindness. I can only imagine that almost every one of his multiple clients are doing the same thing - maybe at the same time! If that is so, I never got the feeling that I was a pest (I probably was). The result for me was a pleasant surprise. Probably due to my location, the car came faster than I imagined. My whole process (winning bid to delivery) took a month and ten days. So the moral is let these pros take care of you - because they will. The happy ending is that you will get the car of your dreams and these guys will have your back the whole time!

Mathew walked me through every step and pointed me to all the right resources both online and here in the United States to complete the import process successfully. 						After seeing quite a few Kei Trucks on the road, I was intrigued. Seeing the local retail prices gave me sticker shock, so I immediately thought there has to be a better way. Sure enough, that way is Japan Car Direct. Yoshi and team are knowledgeable, professional and responsive. They do what they say they are going to do before, during and after the transaction, they are in it for the long haul. The result of reviewing the auction listings and acquiring/importing yourself (with help from JCD) is substantial savings and the satisfaction of paying a fair price. It's also fun if you enjoy searching for and identifying great automotive values. Would not hesitate to recommend their services to others and I will be back for more vehicles in the near future.

						I'd been looking to buy an RF series Honda Stepwagon to convert into a mini camper for a while but the UK prices always seemed too high. I had joined a few JDM import sites to get an idea of auction prices and costs (including Japan Car Direct) but just couldn't bring myself to take the next step, it seemed such a risk ! Finally after reading so many good reviews for JCD (and Mathew in particular) I took the plunge and contacted Mathew. After he answered my many questions regarding costs, fees etc I felt confident enough to pay the deposit and start hunting the Japanese auctions for my Steppy. My budget for the Steppy was pretty low (pathetic even !) but I felt Mat still put the same effort into replying to my questions and queries as he would have done if my budget had been into the tens of thousands. The result was I now have a very tidy Stepwagon with lower mileage than any vehicle I've ever owned, I've paid far less for it then I would have done buying in the UK and I've got a bigger budget now for the camper conversion. I wouldn't hesitate to buy through them again, and hope to do so soon.

						Along with many of the customers here, this was my first time importing a vehicle. Originally, I had contacted a local importer who had great reviews in my area. Long story short, the local importer struggled to move quickly and over the course of around 3 months was unable to close the deal with two vehicles I had intended to make strong offers on. Upset with my experience with the local importer and somewhat discouraged with the entire process I decided to part ways and look into working with Japan Car Direct. At first I was hesitant to do business with a company I had never heard of nor was able to meet with in person. However, Matt soon gave me the assurance that I needed. Being my first import, I had a lot of questions and a lot of concerns with the entire process. Matt was consistently responsive and patient with all of my inquiries and confidently led me through the entire process. From understanding how the auction houses operate, the culture of used vehicle resale in Japan including dealership sales vs auctions, advice on what to look for, and honest feedback on which vehicles to stay away from. I was looking for a very specific and rarely available Land Cruiser and Matt worked with me for over 3 months waiting for the right vehicle to appear at auction. I was very diligent and checking every day for a cruiser to become available. Any cruiser I was interested in, Matt would translate the auction sheet for me and give me his opinion of the vehicle. To my relief, a cruiser finally showed up at auction… However, there was less than 12 hours before the auction would take place. Matt was soon in touch with me and calmly walked me through my options, the bidding process, opinions on what I could expect the vehicle to sell for, and any questions I had along the way. Within that small time frame, not only was he prepared to bid on my behalf, he had also arranged a third party inspection with the auction house to get a second opinion of the vehicle’s condition. After winning the bid, Matt sent me a recording of the entire auction with voice commentary - it was an unexpected detail that brought me closer to the process. I am confident that there is no way my original importer could have pulled this off, and I couldn’t have been happier to have worked with Matt and Japan Car Direct. After the auction, there were no hidden fees or extra charges. Everything was clear from the beginning and transparent through the entire process. I was a very demanding client, and I can’t stress enough how professional and patient Matt was with me as a customer thoughout the extended length of time we searched for the right vehicle. In the end I am extremely satisfied with the experience and as nervous as I was starting the process I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend JCD to anyone reading this, my family, friends, or do business with them again personally in the future. 						Just drove my Japanese market 1991 Mercedes 300d to work for first time. Picked up from the dock last week and the car started right up. It runs quiet, is clean and was obviously well taken care of. I checked blowby via oil filter cap, and the compression seems very good for this diesel. Scott made the process of sorting through and deciding on this car easy and enjoyable. He helped steer me away from what might have been some poorer choices (check the auction sheets!) and we finally found the right car. If looking for a quality used car, the Japanese domestic market has superior stock to choose from (the Mercedes I got, like many European cars there is even LHD). Scott is the guy to get you in to that market - very easy to talk to and quick in responding to queries.

He too was from California which was helpful when it came to registering the vehicle, recommending diesel vehicles. When it came to finding a vehicle, I essentially send Yoshiro the link's to vehicles that I want translated. But he takes it a step further often using his own personal intuition to let me know if we should pass or bid on a vehicle. To be honest I was a little skeptical at first. Buying and shipping a vehicle from another country is a scary project. About two months later we were about to find a 1996 Townace in good condition at a great price...Yoshiro can tell you how difficult I was in finding it. 100% recommend Yoshiro and the guys at Japan Car Direct and am already looking for my 2nd import!

						I asked Japan Car Direct to sell my old Rav4J just before I left Japan in September. Got almost $2,000 total for it, which was amazing. In Japan, there is ZERO resale value for cars. In fact, when I "sold" my old Eunos Roadster (Miyata) to a resale place, the said they were being generous giving me $50 for it. So actually getting a VERY fair price for my old car from JCD definitely put a smile on my face. So thanks for that, guys!

						This was my first time ever buying a car, let alone one from overseas. I was very nervous at first, but the guys at Japan Car Direct are excellent! In particular I dealt with Yoshiro and he provided amazing service and helped me from step 1 all the way until I received the vehicle. If you're unsure about absolutely anything, you can ask them and they'll be more than happy to help you. Yoshiro helped me find an excellent little Audi TT in great condition that I couldn't be more happy about owning! I never would've been able to find a deal like this in my home country. The process is very simple(Refer to their site for a lot more in-depth details on how the process works and a ton of other information): 1. Find a car you like on the auction search engine (can access by simply making an account on their website) 2. Send the auction listing to them and they'll translate the sheet into English for you 3. This step is not mandatory, but you can get an inspection prior to bidding for a insanely good price, I highly recommend. 4. If you still want to bid, let them know your maximum bid. 5. If you win the bid, then just sit back whilst they handle ALL of the next steps for you, they really make it easy! 6. Depending on your country, your import process will be different to clear customs, but Yoshiro even set that entire process up for me! (Note: You're responsible for passing any inspections in order to get insurance in your country, but for me the process was still very simple) It's really as simple as that. All I had to do in the entire process was pick a car I like, and pay for it. You are in good hands with the guys at this company. They'll make sure you get a good car and only one that you'll be happy with. Truly a breath of fresh air when you find that one company that very clearly works for you as the customer to find the absolute best deal for you. I'm definitely going to be looking at buying another vehicle through these guys in the future!

Scott the owner and the entire sales team Matt, Yoshi and Taylor plus the admin staff are all a joy to work with and have helped me every single step of my journey with them. No question was too small and no issue too big for them to deal with.
