Mathew and the fine folks of JCD were pros and I couldn't be happier with my Honda Acty Street. Shipping was easy to follow, they laid out exactly how to go about picking up my van from customs and getting it home was a breeze. Been driving it for a few months now and still purring away. It's scary buying a vehicle sight unseen but they are willing to double check everything before you even put your bid in. The right hand drive is rad and my little baby Racoon gets quite a bit of attention. The only thing to make sure of is check your state laws. Some states are trying to pull Kei trucks and vans off the road. But that is no bearing on JCD. Everything on their end was silky smooth. Would love to buy another couple and have a whole fleet! Even came with original manuals and some artwork from the previous owner's children! Can't put into words how happy I am! JCD rules!

As a first-time importer for personal use, I really appreciated Mathew's @ JCD's patience in answering my questions, walking me through the process, and even explaining the paperwork! My minitruck attracts a lot of attention, so I will send folks your way if they are interested in getting their own! (Side note: if importing into the US, particularly Baltimore, I recommend arranging or planning for a steam-cleaning once it gets in, because US CBP/Dept of Ag will likely require one anyways.)

Japan Car Direct made buying a car from Japan dangerously easy. :) Yoshiro was a great help. He was responsive and supportive through the whole process. I first stumbled upon Japan Car Direct LLC through their Facebook page and on their website. I plan on writing a full review once my car arrives, but at the current moment I wish I could give them more than a 5/5. First, their website is extremely professional and has all of the information that you could ask for. The coolest part about the entire process is getting access to the auction house by registering with them. You can then see (and get translations) for the cars of your choice! Mathew and Scott providing AMAZING customer service. This being my first time, they answered more than 50 e-mails of my questions, and were always very professional. They did not pressure me to purchase a car either, rather, I gave them my specifications and they worked with me to find the vehicle of my choice. I believe their service charge is more than fair considering they do the bulk of the work for you. No matter what time of day, it seemed like Mat and Scott were there to help! In addition to cars, they can help you find parts, which I will need some for my car! While we did run into some minor issues (like my delaying of payment since they are international, and some [dealer - not Japan Car Direct] translation issues with the dealer we bought the car from), Mat and Scott quickly worked to resolve them. Overall, they are great guys, and I will purchase again from them again. If only they could invent a hoverboard to make the car arrive faster :)

Excellent service from beginning to end. I registered over the new year holidays and received an automatic out of office response and also still received personal response indicating when auctions resumed. The process takes doing your own due diligence to study the cars you want but the guys at JCD will assist where they can as well.

I was considering importing a vehicle into Canada from Japan for a while and explored a few different companies but ultimately ended up going with JCD because of their exemplary customer service and I was not disappointed with my decision. I sent JCD about 100 emails (no lie, I wanted to be absolutely sure about the process and everything and they answered most of them prior to me committing to buy a car through them) and they responded to every single one of my questions. The purchasing process was easy and I ended up getting a nice little Mercedes for the summer. Even after JCD had finished their business with me and I was working with an importer they recommended (who was also a pleasure to work with) and I had a couple of outstanding questions they again answered me promptly, honestly and, most importantly, knowledgeably. These guys bid in the auction for you and have a mechanic inspect the car (optional for a small fee) so you know exactly what you're getting. The car I got was exactly as described to me, no surprises and had it on the road almost immediately. If you check out a lot of the other japanese exporters who have selection of cars to choose from and check the auction sheets which are often posted it's easy to see that they are trying to sell crappy cars (typically they are rated R for repaired). I cannot recommend JCD enough and I think I'll probably get my next 'daily driver' through them as well. The process was easy, they were knowledgeable and, most importantly, I got a great deal on a car.

This was my first time importing a vehicle for my personal use and naturally I was leary about who to go through. After looking through a few other places and after getting in touch with a longtime customer of theirs I decided to try these guys out. I can say without a doubt I'm glad I did. Impeccable service and if you do your homework and get the inspections on the vehicles you are interested in, you can get some great deals in Japan. The last vehicle took 1 month to arrive and 3 days to clear customs. I could not be happier with the car.

It's hard to say anything that hasn't been said from other reviewers! This was my first experience importing a vehicle. Mike Nguyen was super patient with me and my indecisiveness. He was very quick to respond, and very informative on all my questions. He helped my sort through options until landing a 1kz-te Land Cruiser Prado. It ended up being in better condition than I was anticipating, and was able to drive it 5 hours home from port without a single issue. Cannot recommend Japan Car Direct enough!

Worked with Matthew, Taylor and Scott to find a particular Daihatsu Hijet to import into Australia. Not only did I find the right vehicle using thier platform, they then helped with procuring upgraded wheels off the Yahoo Japan auction site, sourced some additional spare parts not readily available in Australia and organized for a preshipment service. Everything went smoothly and without a hitch. I would highly recommend anyone thinking of importing a vehicle from Japan should consider the service that they offer it is Blue Ribbon.

We had been looking for a Toyota AE86 for many years, and in late 2022, decided to take the plunge and purchase from Japan a fabulous red over black example. After scoping out a number of agents/importers based in Japan, we settled on Japan Car Direct, and we're very happy that we did! We quickly found that communications with Matt and the Japan Car Direct team were always prompt, insightful and respectful, giving us a feeling of trust in the company. At our request Matt organised a mechanical and general inspection of the car, which was located a few hours north-east of Tokyo. Whilst the mechanic was looking at the car, we were able to do a video call through Matt so we could see the AE86 for ourselves and ask questions of the selling agent live - all beautifully translated by Matt. This gave us a digital first-hand viewing of the car, and was key to us making our final decision to purchase. The subsequent transaction for the purchase itself was a smooth and stress-free operation as we were guided through the process by Japan Car Direct. The entire process, from first communication, to the inspection, the transaction, the shipping process, and to when the car arrived - was all incredibly smooth and trouble-free. As a result of all this good service, we now have a wonderful JDM Toyota AE86 here in Australia. Matthew at JCD is the man. I’ve now imported three of my own cars through him. JCD was able to accommodate my unique needs, everything from short turn around inspections, expert opinions on bidding, arranging quick turn shipping, and handling of docs. I have no reservations sending more tens of thousands of dollars for future imports. At the end of the day, they really wanted to make me a happy customer.

It took quite some time to find my dream car and I appreciate Matt for sticking it out. It's quite amazing the amount of detail is on the auction sheet about the condition of the car, so it was very easy to know what condition the cars are in. Of course, the auction sheets wouldn't have been much help if it wasn't for Matt walking me through all the Japanese.

I purchased a 1994 4wd Suzuki Carry Kei truck through JCD. Yoshi helped me during the process and after nearly 3 months and over 100 emails back and forth between questions and translations of auction sheets I finally decided on a truck. I've now had it for nearly a month and couldn't be happier with the purchase. They are extremely promt with responses and answered all questions I had. Being completely new at the importing process I never felt uneasy with my decision. If I ever decide to import another vehicle I will definitely use them again.

After doing a bit of research I settled on using JCD to bid at the Japanese auctions for me and to facilitate the import of my dream car into Australia. Whenever I saw a car of interest, Mason would normally reply within an hour with a short video translating the Japanese auction sheet and additional info he had. They also organised additional inspections and photos at your request before you bid. Once I placed a winning bid, they used a partner shipping company (Dolphin shipping) and transferred all the info to them. From there the shipping company had a few extra questions and shipped my car and sent me an invoice for their services just before the car landed in AUS. These guys are very accessible, friendly and do a great job. Highly recommend. Thanks Mason for a job well done!

I used Japan Car Direct to bid and win a Daihatsu HiJet Cargo. Mason was my point of contact and was brilliant in guiding me through the process, detailing how to make the initial deposit to allow bidding, detailing the auction costs and shipping costs, so that I could work out a budget. The platform for searching vehicles that are coming to auction was easy to use, and Mason was very helpful in explaining all the vehicle description codes and provided a really useful review for individual vehicles that I short listed, and then arranged for the vehicle to be independently inspected prior to bidding. Payment on my winning vehicle was straight forward by BACs to Japan Car Direct and then Mason took care of arranging shipping, and sending through the bill of lading and other documents. Once the vehicle arrived at the JCD yard I received very comprehensive photos. Shipping took about 7 weeks from Japan to Newcastle in the UK, and the vehicle arrived safely in perfect condition. I used RJJ Freight for customs clearance, which made the process of getting the vehicle into the UK stress free.

I always wanted a Land Cruiser ! Mathew helped me find 2 beautiful trucks from the Japanese auction. Had them delivered to Freeport, TX last week. He was amazing to work with. Fast response time on bids, super easy to work with, he has a lot of experience and answered all questions promptly. Will be working with JCD more in the future to purchase more vehicles !

After deciding to import a vehicle myself from Japan to the US, Japan car direct was one of the first names to come up. Of course this being the first time that I have ever done anything like this I had countless questions about the process and how it all works. I have never dealt with a better company. These guys are outstanding and really know the business of exporting vehicles. I imported a car to Ireland and it was a joyous experience with JCD. Mike was so patient and responsive to every query and did a super job. Despite me changing my mind a few times and requesting many translations, he never complained. Japan Car Direct has awesome support and always quick in response. Purchased several BMW 330i, BMW 530i, BMW M5, Benz C Class, E Class, AUDI TTS and etc to import into Taiwan. They took care of everything in Japan including export matters as well. It made our importing car business so easy all done through by internet. Wouldn't say it was as easy as purchasing on Amazon, but it sure was great enough for me. They even provided me daily notification of the models I was interested in. This helped me save tons of time from searching every day. Definitely suggest for English native buyers to Japan Car Direct, it would be much much more smoother than other Japanese companies in this business.

Yesterday I took delivery of my 1995 Subaru Sambar (Kei or "Mini Truck" I could not be happier with the service provided by Japan Car Direct and with the vehicle itself. Mathew was unfailingly kind, patient, and helpful through the process. He helped me to understand more about Sambars specifically and Kei trucks in general, as well as everything from bidding through shipping and customs clearance (though they do not provide that service per se). I cannot tell you how many questions he promptly answered about the process and about specific vehicles I considered purchasing. It was my first time exporting a vehicle and he walked me through step by step and didn't mind answering all my millions of questions. I probably looked at 100+ different trucks and Taylor was instrumental in helping me make informed decisions on which trucks I should try to bid on and which ones I should probably avoid. I ended up purchasing three mini-trucks, one for myself and two other family members. We love them!!!! Great for working around the farm or yard, hunting, taking to the mountains and cruising the back mountain roads or just a daily commuter as I use mine for. After seeing quite a few Kei Trucks on the road, I was intrigued. Seeing the local retail prices gave me sticker shock, so I immediately thought there has to be a better way. Sure enough, that way is Japan Car Direct. Yoshi and team are knowledgeable, professional and responsive. They do what they say they are going to do before, during and after the transaction, they are in it for the long haul. The result of reviewing the auction listings and acquiring/importing yourself (with help from JCD) is substantial savings and the satisfaction of paying a fair price. It's also fun if you enjoy searching for and identifying great automotive values. Would not hesitate to recommend their services to others and I will be back for more vehicles in the near future.

He always responded and answer any questions I had, just keep in mind that you will get your response in the middle of the night due to the time difference. They walk you through every step until you drive your vehicle away. Period....Planning to use them again very soon!

In particular I dealt with Yoshiro and he provided amazing service and helped me from step 1 all the way until I received the vehicle. If you're unsure about absolutely anything, you can ask them and they'll be more than happy to help you. Yoshiro helped me find an excellent little Audi TT in great condition that I couldn't be more happy about owning! I never would've been able to find a deal like this in my home country. The process is very simple(Refer to their site for a lot more in-depth details on how the process works and a ton of other information): 1. Find a car you like on the auction search engine (can access by simply making an account on their website) 2. Send the auction listing to them and they'll translate the sheet into English for you 3. This step is not mandatory, but you can get an inspection prior to bidding for a insanely good price, I highly recommend. 4. If you still want to bid, let them know your maximum bid. 5. If you win the bid, then just sit back whilst they handle ALL of the next steps for you, they really make it easy! 6. Depending on your country, your import process will be different to clear customs, but Yoshiro even set that entire process up for me! (Note: You're responsible for passing any inspections in order to get insurance in your country, but for me the process was still very simple) It's really as simple as that. All I had to do in the entire process was pick a car I like, and pay for it. You are in good hands with the guys at this company. They'll make sure you get a good car and only one that you'll be happy with. Truly a breath of fresh air when you find that one company that very clearly works for you as the customer to find the absolute best deal for you. I'm definitely going to be looking at buying another vehicle through these guys in the future!

Bought a Suzuki Cappuccino from auction through Mason at JCD. He was incredibly patient and helpful as I looked at dozens of cars, had several inspected, and finally the right one popped up. I just picked it up from port this week. JCD was always willing to answer all the questions I had as a first time importer.

I can't praise Japan Car Direct enough especially the work from Mike Nguyen in helping me find and buy the van I finally chose. They make the process very straightforward and Mike was always available with video translations of auction sheets and with advice on the purchase process and pricing. You never feel like you cannot discuss the process and are never pushed into choices you don't want to make. Finally, with the shipping to the UK, Mike helped find transportation that was significantly faster than the expected times given by others.
