						Japan Car Direct is so amazing! About 6 months ago I wanted a Kei truck. I looked at purchasing them locally, but they were just too expensive. So, I looked at importing one through a company like JCD to save some money and to look for what I wanted exactly. While I was initially skeptical, after interacting with agents getting access to the auction site, I was so confident in the ability to import the car of my dreams. After months of bothering my agent, Taylor, with constant bids and random questions, I finally won an auction and purchased my truck. While I thought once I had paid the final bill to them that their services were over, I was dead wrong: Taylor was there to support me through the ENTIRE process. JCD worked so hard to make sure my truck was just how I wanted it, delivered as fast as possible, and affordable. While it was scary at first, it was just so easy! I am just now getting my truck registered and road-legal. My fulfillment in my new Kei truck and with JCD's services was so immense that I couldn't help convincing friends and family to make the same choice that I did: importing my JDM dream car through Japan Car Direct. 						I had been searching for someone to purchase a car through for about 3months before I found these guys. These guys should be your only consideration when buying from japan. They are the only group I can say I had no red flags with. I worked with Matt, and he couldn’t have been more helpful. The process was made so easy I’m thinking about my next purchase. I was able to find my 1 owner Supra at an amazing price one day before the auction and began to panic because I thought I wasn’t able to get in touch that fast to coordinate the bid. But I was wrong and he was able to get right in there and get it. All estimated wait times were accurate, and was pointed in the right direction for every piece I needed after the car was shipped out. He was able to provide a go to for it all. 						I first stumbled upon Japan Car Direct LLC through their Facebook page and on their website. I plan on writing a full review once my car arrives, but at the current moment I wish I could give them more than a 5/5. First, their website is extremely professional and has all of the information that you could ask for. The coolest part about the entire process is getting access to the auction house by registering with them. You can then see (and get translations) for the cars of your choice! Mathew and Scott providing AMAZING customer service. This being my first time, they answered more than 50 e-mails of my questions, and were always very professional. They did not pressure me to purchase a car either, rather, I gave them my specifications and they worked with me to find the vehicle of my choice. I believe their service charge is more than fair considering they do the bulk of the work for you. No matter what time of day, it seemed like Mat and Scott were there to help! In addition to cars, they can help you find parts, which I will need some for my car! While we did run into some minor issues (like my delaying of payment since they are international, and some [dealer - not Japan Car Direct] translation issues with the dealer we bought the car from), Mat and Scott quickly worked to resolve them. Overall, they are great guys, and I will purchase again from them again. If only they could invent a hoverboard to make the car arrive faster :)

						A few months ago I set out on my goal of importing a vehicle from Japan through an auction. After tons and TONs of research and countless emails, I decided to use Japan Car Direct as my exporter in Japan. From the beginning of my interactions with JCD, I was thoroughly impressed. My contact, Yoshi, was amazing...definitely a huge asset to the JCD team. He answered all of my questions promptly, translated dozens of auction sheets for me, and advised me of what to watch out for when looking for a vehicle. He was beyond helpful! I picked up my Kei truck at the port in Newport News a few weeks ago and couldn't be more pleased. Since then, the truck has made it to its final home in Charlottesville, VA on my farm. Yoshi and the other guys at JCD are now my go to team for more of these soon. Thanks again JCD and keep doing what you guys do! You all are the real deal. 						I was considering importing a vehicle into Canada from Japan for a while and explored a few different companies but ultimately ended up going with JCD because of their exemplary customer service and I was not disappointed with my decision. I sent JCD about 100 emails (no lie, I wanted to be absolutely sure about the process and everything and they answered most of them prior to me committing to buy a car through them) and they responded to every single one of my questions. The purchasing process was easy and I ended up getting a nice little Mercedes for the summer. Even after JCD had finished their business with me and I was working with an importer they recommended (who was also a pleasure to work with) and I had a couple of outstanding questions they again answered me promptly, honestly and, most importantly, knowledgeably. These guys bid in the auction for you and have a mechanic inspect the car (optional for a small fee) so you know exactly what you're getting. The car I got was exactly as described to me, no surprises and had it on the road almost immediately. If you check out a lot of the other japanese exporters who have selection of cars to choose from and check the auction sheets which are often posted it's easy to see that they are trying to sell crappy cars (typically they are rated R for repaired). I cannot recommend JCD enough and I think I'll probably get my next 'daily driver' through them as well. The process was easy, they were knowledgeable and, most importantly, I got a great deal on a car.

						I worked with JapanCarDirect to import a 4WD van. It took three months, lots of legwork, a good auction score, and plenty of fees to pay, but I now have a fully legal and awesome van that is in great shape minus a few issues that are to be expected of a 25-year old van. It's super fun to drive, super unique, and I feel like I'm part of the community. I can pass VW vans and chuckle as they look at me driving RHD several inches above their vehicle. However, as my favorite youtuber subject matter expert on these kinds of vans, you have to be somewhat of an auto enthusiast to really enjoy these cars. You can find gold among the lower value vehicles. There's an element of risk buying from auction, but I got all vehicles I was really interested in inspected to give me more confidence completing the contraction, granting that I've never owned two vehicles before. Plus, I knew exactly what I wanted, so I was able to bid with confidence. Having two cars as driving options is super handy!

						Imagine you want to buy a car from Japan. You aren't there, you have no contacts there, you don't know the system. What can you do? I know the answer to this one! Do business with Japan Car Direct. I was that newbie, I had so many question - so many concerns. Mike Nguyen was kind enough to respond to everyone of them with patience and kindness. I can only imagine that almost every one of his multiple clients are doing the same thing - maybe at the same time! If that is so, I never got the feeling that I was a pest (I probably was). The result for me was a pleasant surprise. Probably due to my location, the car came faster than I imagined. My whole process (winning bid to delivery) took a month and ten days. So the moral is let these pros take care of you - because they will. The happy ending is that you will get the car of your dreams and these guys will have your back the whole time!

						The entire team at Japan Car Direct looked after everything for me. From buying my target car at auction to selling my current car at auction with delivery, paperwork and admin in between sales all included. I live in Japan so this is a review of the process from within the country (not for export). Having said this, the high quality of car and service received won't be different no matter where you are buying from. At first Matt educated me on Land Cruisers as that was my target car. This was very helpful. Next he helped me select a car. Our primary communication was done via social media (we mostly used Whatsapp but also were connected via Facebook Messenger and LINE). We looked at a fair amount of cars. Matt would send me a list almost daily of upcoming cars. He was especially patient with me as I was rather pedantic about everything and asked many questions. Matt always responded within an hour. It is also worth noting that even though my Japanese language ability is advanced, it was comforting having Matt's Japanese language fluency on hand when questions needed to be relayed on my behalf. It made our communication much more efficient. Within a couple of weeks we eventually found a car that fit my target but actually missed out on the auction, not because we were outbid (although there were other bidders) but because the seller had a fixed (minimum) price set. After the auction Matt relayed the fixed price the seller wanted. I waited a few days to think about it then asked if the car was still available, and it was. At this point Matt offered to hire a private inspector/specialist to check the car on site on my behalf. This was 3000yen well spent as the inspector gave a thorough check of the car. I recommend anyone considering buying a car via auction to have an expert check it out first. It was tremendously valuable and reassuring. At this point, all that was left to do was agree to buy the car and send the money. All the paperwork and delivery of the car (directly to my home!) was organized by Matt and the Japan Car Direct team. It was a very easy process. To top it off, Matt and the Japan Car Direct team went above and beyond by agreeing to help me sell my old car. They arranged to have it picked up from my home on the day my new car arrived, and took it to auction to sell it on my behalf. My car sold on the first auction day for much more than I was hoping for. Once again, all of the paperwork, delivery of the car etc was taken care of by Matt and the team. I have bought cars and motorcycles in Japan via auction in the past. While the product I buy has always been good, the service not always so. The entire process can be a nerve wracking experience, not only because of fear of buying a bad car but because of all the paperwork and bureaucracy involved. Japan Car Direct took the stress out of buying at auction and made it a friendly, fun experience. The service was prompt and professional - always. I love the car I purchased but since the process was so easy I will certainly be back for more in the future. Japan Cars Direct is THE way to go for buying cars at auction in Japan. I can’t recommend them enough. I was initially introduced to Matthew Matusiak of Japan Car Direct via a mutual acquaintance for the purpose of buying a car, however, I am pleased to now call Matt my friend and look forward to continued hockey chatter throughout the year.

						Japan Car Direct review TLDR: These guys are great to work with and 100% trustworthy. If you are going to import a vehicle, you aren’t going to find better people to manage the process. Importing a car is a gearhead rite of passage into the upper echelon of status and street cred. Spoken of in hushed tones in closely gathered circles almost always in terms of “someday.” It always seemed like dating a move star to me; I knew it was technically a thing. But the in-roads to achieve it were shrouded in darkness and mystery. Besides, even if you managed to sneak into the smoky back room where the action happened, what then? What you need is a Obi-Wan. A wise guide with the patina of years and experience under their belt - funky robe and weird smells optional. Enter Japan Car Direct. I was admittedly nervous. I had spent days reading reviews and references. I contacted several companies in speed-dating fashion hoping to find someone to put my nervous mind at ease. With what I am sure was an annoying number of emails, it seemed clear to me Japan Car Direct was the smartest route. Their reputation seemed solid and they handled my naive, kid-with-an-inhaler-and-too-much-emotional-investment-in-an-obscure-SiFi-storyline obsessive questions with grace and patience. They walked me through the process. Broke down the completely reasonable charges into terms even I could manage, and took the time to expediently respond to my flurry of electronic “But, what about”s. When things got serious, they treated me like more of a friend they were doing a solid than a client. I would message them daily about cars I found on the auction listing I thought would scratch my strange itch. They always responded quickly with honest opinions and information. I had sent my deposit. They had my money. It would have been in their financial interest to get me out of the virtual door with the first car I was panting about and move on to the next client. But, they didn’t do that at all. They actually talked me out of 4-5 vehicles before we found one that fit the bill and they felt was a good option. Then, for less than I’ve spent on a single Starbucks run, then had someone go and put hands on the vehicle. Check it out, start it, fiddle with things and make sure it was a good bet. I received a optimistic, but reserved assessment. Which I jumped on like a high schooler on a prom date. I wired money. I screwed it up (research what is actual takes to send significant amounts of money overseas before you try, btw. It isn’t hard, but I really wish I thought of that part before. It was a bit of a mad dash because I was a newbie and totally clueless.) They were very understanding about the whole thing. They made arrangements, got the car to and on the boat. Managed strange and exotic paperwork that I had no clue existed. It all felt very Bourgeois. Like I had people in other countries managing my affairs. The vehicle magically arrived and it was so much better than I expected. Their standards exceeded mine. Honestly, after purchasing and having a vehicle imported with Japan Car Direct, I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. It is much easier than I expected and less expensive than I assumed. They are fantastic to work with and the entire experience was great.

						I purchased a JDM 2008 Toyota Prius through Japan Car Direct last year. The export agent, Mason, was easy to work with and made the process predictable and straight forward, so there were no surprises or hidden costs with the car itself and with logistics. The logistics supplier that Mason referred to in Vancouver to import the car into Canada was also very helpful and made the process stress free. Mason went above and beyond just facilitating the transaction and sourced new tires, rims, and accessories for the car that the car needed or that didn't come with the car. This was a big help as these parts and accessories for a 2008 Prius were either unavailable in Canada or would have cost an arm and a leg to purchase through a dealership. I was amazed at how good condition the car was in when it arrived. I picked it up in Vancouver and, right off the boat, drove it over 4000km straight to Ontario to get it home without any mechanical issues along the way.

						Just drove my Japanese market 1991 Mercedes 300d to work for first time. Picked up from the dock last week and the car started right up. It runs quiet, is clean and was obviously well taken care of. I checked blowby via oil filter cap, and the compression seems very good for this diesel. Scott made the process of sorting through and deciding on this car easy and enjoyable. He helped steer me away from what might have been some poorer choices (check the auction sheets!) and we finally found the right car. If looking for a quality used car, the Japanese domestic market has superior stock to choose from (the Mercedes I got, like many European cars there is even LHD). Scott is the guy to get you in to that market - very easy to talk to and quick in responding to queries.

						Awesome experience working with the guys at Japan Car Direct, I was looking to find a specific spec J90 Land Cruiser Prado (2 door, black, low milage) and managed to locate one at a used car dealer in Japan. Mason helped every step of the way to coordinate with the dealer, make the deal, transport the car to the port, coordinate with the port staff to store the Prado till it turned 25 years on the month (had to sit at the port a couple months), and then finally have the Prado cleaned before it was loaded on the boat. 						I recently found JCD through an article online about importing vehicles into the US. I sent them an email and Yoshiro was quick to get back. He too was from California which was helpful when it came to registering the vehicle, recommending diesel vehicles. When it came to finding a vehicle, I essentially send Yoshiro the link's to vehicles that I want translated. But he takes it a step further often using his own personal intuition to let me know if we should pass or bid on a vehicle. To be honest I was a little skeptical at first. Buying and shipping a vehicle from another country is a scary project. About two months later we were about to find a 1996 Townace in good condition at a great price...Yoshiro can tell you how difficult I was in finding it. 100% recommend Yoshiro and the guys at Japan Car Direct and am already looking for my 2nd import!

						Mike helped me with purchasing and importing my first JDM car (JZX100 Chaser). Throughout the entire process, Mike was extremely professional and I really appreciated his availability to answering all my questions/requests. Despite the numerous amount of questions I had (I am an extremely anxious person), responses from JCD were always concise and carried a very professional tone which I particularly appreciated and I think is very representative of working with a Japanese vs US-based company for importing. Initially, I was split between using JCD versus a US-based importer (like The Import Guys). But after considering the material difference in pricing, especially given the JPY FX rate, I thought I'd go with JCD given they are based in Japan and I figured paperwork and communication between them and other local entities in Japan would be easier. Sure enough, no regrets! Everything went extremely smoothly after winning my bid, I was essentially hands off when it came to getting the car out of Japan. The only clarification I'd provide to other potential customers is just recognizing that JCD provides all services up until the car is on the boat, then its on you to coordinate with a customs broker and shipping company to have the car clear US customs and get released. All in all, JCD really handled all the paperwork needed and I couldn't have imagined a more simple importing process. Wouldn't hesitate to use them again!

He is very nice and made me a lot more comfortable with the wire transfers (after purchasing the vehicle), because let’s be honest, it is nerve racking to send money to a foreign country and have to wait several weeks for your vehicle to arrive. 						Since a kid the FD RX7 has always been a dream car but i didn't pursue it till i graduated high school but the prices just for the shell over here in california was over 15k!! I kept looking around until I decided i would just import one. I found JCD while looking for the top 5 importers you could trust and they stood out more than all the other ones, and for a couple months of more research on their page until I ultimately decided I would go through them. Although this was my first time getting a car from Japan and having an endless amount questions spanning a couple hundred emails until it would freeze up and i had to make a new email thread ..
